Best Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y Laptops: 5 Listings Checked on Specs

By Paul Syverson · Last updated Oct 20, 2026

Our top pick among Pentium Gold 6500Y laptops is the HPIKVAR 15.6-inch model: its 16GB of memory matches the most Intel lists for this chip, and it is the only listing here that states its operating system, Windows 11 Home. The 6500Y is an older, ultra-low-power chip for basic tasks, and two of the five listings claim more memory than Intel says it supports. We checked all five against Intel's published data, not by testing them.

5 picks from 6 laptops that match this guide with a price we can quote today. Every price below is live and carries the moment it was read.

The picks at a glance

Which one should you buy?

• For most buyers: The HPIKVAR model has 16GB of memory, within Intel's limit for the chip, a 256GB drive and Windows 11 Home stated. See pick 1
• For a 15.6-inch screen with plausible specs: The TRHRO 15.6-inch lists 12GB of memory, inside Intel's 16GB maximum, at 1.59 kg. See pick 2
• For a smaller screen: The TRHRO 14-inch is the only 14-inch listing at 1.32 kg, but confirm its memory claim first. See pick 4

Its stated specifications match the TRHRO 15.6-inch exactly: 12GB of memory, 128GB of storage, a 15.6-inch FHD IPS screen per the title, and 1.59 kg. We list it because it is in the catalogue; compare warranty terms and choose one.

• 12GB of memory, within Intel's limit
• 15.6-inch FHD IPS screen per the listing title
• 1.59 kg

Cons

• 128GB of storage
• Operating system not stated by the seller
• Same stated specs as the TRHRO 15.6-inch, so little reason to prefer it

Good fit if

• Buyers comparing the two identical 15.6-inch listings on warranty terms
• Basic browsing and document work

Skip if

• You need more than 128GB of storage
• You want a known maker

Verdict: Pick it over the TRHRO only if its warranty terms are better.

It is the only 14-inch listing here, at 1.32 kg with a 1080p FHD IPS screen per the title and 512GB of storage. But it claims 32GB of memory, twice the 16GB maximum Intel lists for the 6500Y, so confirm the configuration with the seller.

Pros

• 14-inch screen, the smallest here
• 1.32 kg
• 512GB of storage, tied for the most in this list

Cons

• 32GB memory claim contradicts Intel's 16GB maximum for the chip
• Operating system not stated by the seller

Good fit if

• Buyers who want a smaller, lighter body
• Users who store files locally and need 512GB

Skip if

• You cannot get the memory claim confirmed
• You need more speed than the 6500Y gives

Verdict: A compact option whose memory figure needs checking before you buy.

The HYYUO 15.6-inch states 1.3 kg, the lowest weight here, with 512GB of storage. Like the TRHRO 14-inch, it claims 32GB of memory, which Intel's specification for the 6500Y does not allow, so we rank it last.

Pros

• 1.3 kg, the lowest stated weight in this list
• 512GB of storage, tied for the most here
• 15.6-inch FHD IPS screen per the listing title

Cons

• 32GB memory claim contradicts Intel's 16GB maximum for the chip
• Operating system not stated by the seller
• The listing title does not name the model

Good fit if

• Buyers who want the lightest 15.6-inch listing here
• Users who need 512GB of local storage

Skip if

• You want a spec sheet that matches the chip's limits
• You want a named maker and model

Verdict: Light on paper, but the memory claim does not match the processor.

Side by side

How we picked

How we picked: our catalogue holds 5 laptops whose listings state the Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y, and this page covers all 5 so you can see each one checked. All come from smaller brands (HPIKVAR, TRHRO, EvoSpan and HYYUO) rather than established laptop makers. Intel lists 16GB as the maximum memory for the 6500Y, yet two listings (the HYYUO 15.6-inch and the TRHRO 14-inch) claim 32GB; we flag that contradiction on each and rank them lower. The TRHRO 15.6-inch and EvoSpan 15.6-inch state identical specifications, so treat them as near-duplicates. Prices on this page are live: each is read from the store listing and shown with the time it was read. Nobody at wikilaptop.org has tested these units.

How to choose

What the Pentium Gold 6500Y is

Intel lists the Pentium Gold 6500Y with 2 cores, 4 threads, a 1.1 GHz base frequency, a 3.4 GHz maximum turbo frequency and a 5W TDP. It launched in the first quarter of 2021 as an Amber Lake Y part, and it uses Intel UHD Graphics 615. Intel's processor-number guide describes the Y suffix as extremely low power.

That makes it a chip for email, browsing, documents and video. It is not suited to games, photo editing, programming tools or heavy multitasking.

Memory: check the claim against Intel's limit

Intel lists a maximum memory size of 16GB for the 6500Y, with LPDDR3-1866 or DDR3L-1600 memory types. A listing that claims 32GB with this chip contradicts that specification. Two of the five listings here do so; ask the seller to confirm before buying.

For this processor, 8GB to 16GB is plenty for basic tasks. More memory would not make the chip faster.

Storage

Storage here runs from 128GB to 512GB. Microsoft lists 64GB as the minimum storage for Windows 11, and updates need free space on top, so 128GB fills quickly. If you keep documents and photos on the laptop, prefer 256GB or 512GB.

Windows 11 support

Microsoft's list of Intel processors for new Windows 11 devices includes the Pentium Gold 6000Y series, which covers the 6500Y. Only one listing here, the HPIKVAR, states its operating system. For the others, confirm which version of Windows is installed and that it is activated.

Brand, warranty and duplicates

All five listings come from smaller brands, not from established laptop makers. Confirm the warranty length, who handles repairs, and how to reach support. The TRHRO 15.6-inch and EvoSpan 15.6-inch state identical specifications, so compare their warranty terms and choose one.

Questions

Is the Pentium Gold 6500Y good enough for everyday use?

For email, browsing, documents and video, yes. Intel lists it with 2 cores, 4 threads and a 5W TDP, and it launched in 2021, so it is an older, low-power chip. It slows down with many apps or tabs open, and it is not built for games, photo editing or programming tools.

Can a Pentium Gold 6500Y laptop have 32GB of memory?

Intel lists 16GB as the maximum memory size for this processor. Two listings here claim 32GB, which contradicts that specification. Ask the seller to confirm the installed memory before buying, and treat the rest of such a listing's specifications with care too.

Does the Pentium Gold 6500Y support Windows 11?

Microsoft's list of supported Intel processors for new Windows 11 devices includes the Pentium Gold 6000Y series, which covers the 6500Y. Only the HPIKVAR listing here states Windows 11 Home in its specifications, so confirm the installed version on the others.

How does the Pentium Gold 6500Y compare with the Intel N150?

Both are low-power chips for basic tasks. Intel lists the newer N150, launched in 2025, with 4 cores and a 6W base power, against 2 cores and 4 threads at 5W for the 6500Y from 2021. The N150 also supports DDR5 and LPDDR5 memory. For a new purchase, the N150 is the more current option.

Did you test these laptops?

No. Nobody at wikilaptop.org has used these units. We checked the specifications stated on each listing against Intel's and Microsoft's published data, and we flag where they disagree. We do not describe speed, heat or build quality, because those claims need testing we have not done.
