Side by side

How we picked

How we picked: 37 laptops in our catalogue state an 18-inch screen. Nineteen are listed under ASUS, MSI and Acer, 17 are reseller configurations from two resellers, and one is sold under an unrelated brand name with a misspelled maker name in its title, which we skipped. Several models appear many times in different memory and storage configurations (six ASUS TUF 18 AI listings and four MSI Crosshair 18 HX listings, for example), so we kept one of each. We preferred makers' own listings and used a reseller configuration only where no maker listing covered a GPU tier or feature, labelling each one. Prices on this page are live: each one is read from the store listing and shown with the time it was read. Nobody at wikilaptop.org has tested these units.

How to choose

Is 18 inches right for you?

An 18-inch laptop is a desktop replacement. The screen has room for games, video timelines and several windows side by side, and the large chassis leaves space for a powerful GPU. It suits people who work mainly at a desk.

It does not suit daily carrying. Stated weights in this list run from 2.5 kg to 3.7 kg before the charger, which on machines of this class is often a large brick. Measure your bag before buying: a standard backpack may not fit an 18-inch laptop.

GPU tier

The picks cover six NVIDIA RTX 50 laptop GPUs, all Blackwell chips. NVIDIA lists 8GB of GDDR7 for the RTX 5050 and RTX 5060, 8GB or 12GB for the RTX 5070, 12GB for the RTX 5070 Ti, 16GB for the RTX 5080 and 24GB for the RTX 5090. Two picks carry an RTX 5090, three an RTX 5080, two an RTX 5070 Ti, three an RTX 5070, one an RTX 5060 and one an RTX 5050.

The same GPU name can perform differently between laptops, because each maker chooses its power level. Check the maker's spec page when two options look equal.

Screen: refresh, resolution and color

Six picks run at 240Hz, three at 144Hz and three at 120Hz. A 240Hz screen suits fast games; creative work gains more from resolution and color coverage. Listings here range from WUXGA (1920 x 1200) to 4K, and one states 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Read the panel details on the listing, since the same model can ship with different screens.

Memory and storage

Seven picks come with 32GB of memory, two with 64GB, two with 128GB and one with 16GB. For gaming, 32GB is comfortable; 64GB or more helps with video, 3D and virtual machines. Storage runs from 1TB to 16TB. Many 18-inch models appear in several memory and storage configurations, so check the exact configuration before buying.

Maker listings and reseller builds

Nine of the 12 picks are sold as the maker's own configuration. Three are reseller builds from two resellers, which take a maker's laptop and fit extra memory or storage. We included them because no maker's own listing in our catalogue covers the RTX 5080 tier at this size. Before buying one, check who provides the warranty and how repairs are handled.

Questions

Is an 18-inch laptop portable?

Only in a limited sense. You can move it between home and office, but the stated weights here run from 2.5 kg to 3.7 kg, plus a large charger. That makes daily commuting or travel tiring. Think of an 18-inch laptop as a desktop that folds up, and pick a 14-inch or 16-inch model if you carry it every day.

Which 18-inch laptop has the best GPU?

Two picks carry NVIDIA's RTX 5090, which NVIDIA lists with 24GB of GDDR7: the ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2025) and the MSI Titan 18. The SCAR 18 is lighter at 2.85 kg and has a 240Hz screen; the Titan has 64GB of memory and a 120Hz screen.

Why are some picks reseller builds?

In our catalogue, no 18-inch laptop with an RTX 5080 is sold as a maker's own configuration; they come from resellers. We included three of them so the RTX 5080 tier is covered, and labelled each one. Resellers fit their own memory and storage to a maker's laptop, so check warranty terms before buying.

Who benefits most from an 18-inch screen?

Gamers who want a large display without a separate monitor, and creators who edit video, photos or 3D work and need room for timelines and panels. Office users who value screen space can benefit too, though a lighter laptop with an external monitor is often more practical.

Did you test these laptops?

No. Nobody at wikilaptop.org has used these units. We compared them on the specifications stated on each listing, cross-checked with NVIDIA and Intel published data. We make no claims about heat, fan noise or keyboard feel, because those need testing we have not done.
